I like to crochet things. I also like to take pictures of things. Both of these will feature here.

Wooly Mammoth Pattern: Inspired by the mammoths of Skyrim :-D


I use a chunky weight alpaca wool and a 5mm crochet hook, then brush all the head and body all over when I’m done to make him extra fluffy.

Note, all the pieces are designed to be used “right-side” facing out, I do this by turning the pieces inside out about 2 rounds before the end, and then stuffing them, then finishing off.

Head
R1: Ch 2, 6 SC in 2nd ch frm hk
R2: Sc in each st around (6)
R3: Sc 2 in each st around (12)
R4: Sc in 1st st, Sc 2 in next st, rpt rnd (18)
R5: Sc 1 in first 2 st, Sc 2 in next st, rpt rnd (24)
R6: Sc 1 in first 3 st, Sc 2 in next st, rpt rnd (30)
R7: Sc 1 in first 4 st, Sc 2 in next st, rpt rnd (36)
R8-13: Sc in each st around
R14: Sc in first 4 st, Decrease over next 2 st, rpt rnd (30)
R15: Sc in first 3 st, Decrease over next 2 st, rpt rnd (24)
R16: Sc in first 2 st, Decrease over next 2 st, rpt rnd (18)
Insert safety eyes here and begin to stuff firmly

Use invisible close method to finish piece

You should end up with an acorn shape, attach the head to the larger end!

Fasten off, leaving a long tail, stuff and attach to base of body using tail.

Trunk
Start by leaving a long tail, to attach the trunk to the head when finished.
Ch 16, attach into a loop with a slip stitch

R3-4: Sc all around
R5: Sc in first 3 st, decrease over next 2 st, rpt rnd (16)
R6-7: Sc all around
R8: Sc in first 2 st, decrease over next st, rpt rnd (12)

R12: Sc in first st, decrease over next st, rpt rnd (8)
R13-18: Sc all around
R-19: Decrease in each st around (4)
R20-22: sc all around
Fasten off, stuff and attach to head, just below eyes so the trunk points downwards

Ears (make 2)
R1: Ch2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hk
R2: 2 sc in each st around (8)
R3: Sc in first st, 2 sc in 2nd st (12)
R4: Ch 1, turn back on yourself, sc 2 st in next 10 st
Fasten off leaving a long tail, attach to sides of head with the larger rim facing outwards.

Tail
R1: Ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from hk
R2-7: sc all around
Fasten off an attach to back of body.

Tusks make 2 in cream DK wool, use a smaller hook (I use 3.5mm)
Leave a long tail at the start to attach to head.
R1: Ch 2, sc 4 in snd ch frm hk
R2-4: Sc all around
R5: Sc in first st, 2 sc in 2nd st, sc in 3rd st, decrease in last st (should still be 4 stitches)
R6: repeat round 5
R7-11: sc all around
R12: repeat round 5
R13-14: sc around
R15: repeat round 5
fasten off and close using invisible close method.

Sew all the pieces together as you go along, or assemble it all together at the end! Please let me know if you find any mistakes in the pattern and enjoy!
